Goodbye Goldie

All I really wanted was a vehicle to get me from point A to point B. But, somewhere along the way I bonded with my truck "Goldie." A wonderfully running 2000 Ford F-150 who has been with me for some big life moments. I was merely dating Jennifer when I bought her on my way home from Spring Break of 2003. The first day I had her, Hannah (our dog) gnawed on the stick shift (yes she has a manual transmissions). When Jennifer and I went to Virginia Beach on some "Army business" she got us there. The many trips to my old Army Unit and Jennifer's house in Bowling Green when she was still at WKU were taken in Goldie. She was the first vehicle I purchased and now she is going to work for a handyman.
But alas, she is not the safest vehicle for Noah to travel in. When the opportunity for this van came up, we had to take it. It is safer for Noah and Jennifer and I can easily trade the vehicles so the van follows Noah. This Honda Odyssey is great!!! While the truck did come in handy, every now and then, the van is much more practical. It is already growing on me and I am ready to name it. Please leave a reply if you have any ideas for the van's name!

Rearranging the Garage

A few weeks ago Jen said she wanted to park on the other side of the garage. I finally got around to this task today. Since I had some time I went through the boxes and diluted some clutter and made a little trip to Goodwill. Going through some of this, I ran across an old love note to Jennifer from me. Generally, I can remember where these came from. However, this one was typed and in a small envelope... the best i can come up with is it came with some flowers or something. While trying to wrack my brain of where this little ray of sunshine to my wife's day (who knows when) came from, I trotted down memory lane as I swept the garage (as long as I am moving stuff might as well do my best). I reminisced about our Dillard's days and how calm we both were at the wedding. Jennifer is usually very nervous, but she was cool as a cucumber that day. I had zero doubts as we stood waiting for the right music to begin.

May you reminisce about old times and enhance the present on your journey today.

Here is a new picture of Noah! We know why you keep coming back!

Memories of M.J.

Any one our age remembers Michael Jackson's highest point. Jennifer and I are going to talk about some things that we remember about the "King of Pop." Here is a video of Thriller done in Lego's frame for frame!

On a side note, it was great to see full length videos shown on MTV all day.

Curtis- I am going to share my fondest memory that involves Michael Jackson. In the mid eighties we had a "jam box" that was gray and obscenely large. You know the type, you would see people walking along with these hoisted upon their shoulder blasting in their ear. My brother, his friends, and I did not usually get along at this time. With Chris being 4 years older than me he was always just enough ahead for me to be annoying and me to want to hang with him. This particular day there was no argument, fight, or other disaster. Instead we were all brought together with Michael's music. We spent that afternoon dancing our best impression of M.J. We all thought we were doing great, but I am sure some little white kids from Western Kentucky would have only slowed down traffic because of how ridiculous we looked. Finally, I must commend Michael on being a star who transcended the stereotypes. He was huge on every continent but Antarctica! Black, white, asian it didn't matter he loved the people and people loved him.

Jennifer- Since I was a little girl I have always been a Michael Jackson fan. I may not have always agreed with some of the things I heard about him, but it isn't my place to judge. It all began for me listening to the "Thriller" record (Now my age is starting to show)! I loved that album and would listen to it over and over without getting tired of hearing it:) I would always say I wanted to marry him being too young to understand what marriage meant. Thanks to Michael Jackson I began early appreciating the art of dance!

I hope that one day Noah will be able to tell memories of an artist like we have today. The song that sticks out to me that I would like to dedicate to Noah is "I'll Be There". I want him to always know that no matter what, his mommy will always be there for him!

May you be "thrilled" by something on your journey today.

Marathon Test

Curtis- I took a test Saturday that had me hurting from my wrist to my shoulder. After six hours of continuous writing with two breaks that totaled 45 minutes, my arm had completely cramped up. What started as a twinge in my wrist turned into a cramp from my forearm through my bicep into my shoulder.

I am truly glad Jesus doesn't make us jump through these hoops. While we can always improve, he loves us and longs for us to just do something for him. I wish all could act with integrity and trust so hoops like this test to get principal certified would not exist!

There's Always A Catalyst

There always seems to be a catalyst to cause change in a person's behavior. The catalyst that has sparked this change in Jennifer and I is our newest addition, Noah Timothy. This has been an amazing journey and we want family and friends to share in our lives. It is our hope that you can share in our joy and check in on him, and us, throughout the years. There have been many changes in our lives, but 23 May 2009 is forever etched in our memories.
